Porter Pig was a very famous pig on farms all across the world. Not only could he lift a barn above his head, but he also had the best snout that anyone had ever seen. Porter Pig was the best at sniffing out trouble. He could smell trouble from fifty miles away. Whenever Porter Pig found trouble, he was always able to fix the problem and make everything okay. Farmers all over the world asked to see Porter Pig, hoping that they would be able to use his strength and snout to make their farm peaceful. One day, on a farm in the south, Porter Pig was sniffing for trouble when he smelled the worst smell he could ever imagine. Porter Pig rushed over to the barn where the smell was very strong. He lifted up the huge barn above his head, and there it was staring right into his eyes. Porter Pig had never seen anything like this before.
The story continued…
Its eyes were green with black inked in the centre. It tilted its head. It had challenged Porter Pig and Porter Pig never turned down a challenge.
This was no ordinary animal. It was the white streaked skunk. If Porter Pig could lift a barn, the skunk could melt it with its smell. As far as Porter Pig knew (though he wasn’t very smart) the only way to get rid of skunks is tomatoes or tomato soup. Or honeybadgers. Then again, it’s hard to find a honeybadger in Thailand.
Porter Pig had to get rid of the skunk. But how? He tried to think. “Hmm… His horrid stench has scared away most of the animals. How about we scare him back?”
At this, his piggy little brain got a big idea. Porter Pig’s big idea needed other farm animals.
Porter Pig was strong, the chicken were loud, the horses were fast and the sheep were well… uh….. sheep.
So, he gathered them around and told them his plan of surfboards, shadows and sheep. The next day, they got ready for the big plan (except for the sheep).
The chicken made a wall against the barn and started screaming. From inside, the shadow of a howling wolf scared the skunk. Then behind him came a group of horses riding on surfboards which were floating on tomatoes (which were conveniently available) and it completely scared the skunk and it ran away.
All the farmers cheered. It cost them a lot of money but it worked. The sheep did not care. After a washing, the barn would be clean. But I still feel they could have called a honeybadger and got their work done for free. But some people just don’t like honeybadgers (like sheep) Baah!
Moral of the story: Skunks are bad and smelly and hate tomatoes. And, teamwork is always good!
