The phrase ‘Independence Day’ buzzed through the corridors of the pre-primary classes before as well after August 15, 2023.
On one hand, the Nursery children got involved in hand printing the tricolour in order to decorate their arena. On the other hand, the children of Junior KG cut out tri-coloured triangles to create buntings for their classrooms. They also dressed up as famous contributors to the Independence movement and spoke a few lines about these personalities. It was a marvelous display of costumes, props and enthusiasm to showcase latent skills. Personalities like Birsa Munda, Chennamma from Kittur, soldiers, Mother India, Dr Ambedkar, Shivaji, Mangal Pandey, Jawaharlal Nehru, Subhash Chandra Bose, Vijayalaxmi Pandit, Tilak, Bhagat Singh, Queen of Jhansi were amongst a spectrum of freedom fighters that were emulated.
The Senior KG children participated wholeheartedly in a Show and Tell activity based on the national symbols of India. They also created the different national symbols section wise using different art/ craft techniques.
A special assembly was held by a Senior KG class. The children spoke with confidence about our country’s independence and the medley of patriotic songs displayed their acumen pertaining to music. The culmination was the singing of our national anthem, which made each heart swell with pride.
