The 52nd Open M.P State Swimming Championship, 2024, held at the Taran Pushkar Municipal Corporation in Gwalior from June 10th to 13th, showcased the remarkable talent and determination of our young swimmers. This prestigious event brought together the best swimmers from across the state, competing fiercely in various categories and events.
Among the standout performers was Viha Thakur, a Shishyan from North Campus, who made history by becoming the first Open National Qualifier from our campus, excelling in both Junior and Senior categories. Viha’s remarkable performance has qualified her for the Junior Nationals in Bhubaneswar from August 6th to 11th, 2024, and for the Senior Nationals to be held later in September.
Junior Girls’ Category:
In the Junior Girls’ category, Viha Thakur of Class X-C displayed outstanding prowess in the pool, earning a Gold medal in the 50m Backstroke and two Silver medals in the 400m IM and 200m Backstroke events. Her achievements not only brought pride to the school but also set a benchmark for her peers.
Senior Girls’ Category:
Competing in the Senior Girls’ category, Viha continued her streak of excellence, securing Gold medals in the 50m and 200m Backstroke events, and Silver medals in the 200m and 100m Butterfly events. Her versatility and skill across multiple strokes underscore her potential as a national-level swimmer.
Junior Boys’ Category:
In the Junior Boys’ category, Harmish Negi of Class VIII-B demonstrated his endurance and technique by winning a Silver medal in the 1500m Freestyle, and Bronze medals in the 800m Freestyle, 100m Butterfly Stroke, 400m IM, and 4*200m Freestyle Relay. His consistent performance across long-distance and relay events was commendable.
Junior Girls’ Category:
Mansa Chandal of Class VII-C excelled in the Junior Girls’ category, securing Gold medals in the 4*200m Freestyle Relay, 4*100m Freestyle Relay, and 4*100m Medley Relay. She also won a Silver medal in the 400m IM and Bronze medals in the 100m Backstroke and 200m IM, proving her strength in both individual and team events.
Junior Boys’ Category:
Anay Dwivedi of Class VIII-E earned Bronze medals in both the 100m and 200m Breaststroke events, showcasing his potential in these challenging disciplines.
Participation by Shishyans, including Atiksh Porwal, Adwait Dadwani, Ishan Agrawal, and Kanak Malviya, further exemplified the school’s commitment to fostering a spirit of healthy competition and sportsmanship.
The tournament was a celebration of skill, endurance, and the relentless pursuit of excellence. Our swimmers not only brought home medals but also the invaluable experience of competing at such a high level, inspiring all to strive for greatness in and out of the pool.
