Author: Nyasa Kamargaonkar, Class VII A
I wear my own crown.
I don’t need mere gold and silver
to make myself seem extravagant.
The quality of my soul is glorious enough.
I don’t need bards to praise me for eons.
I have critics in my yard, to tell me where I am wrong.
Pity, hardly they ever know they shape me .
Flattered kings and queens, O great!
They hold no value for me.
Great is he who needs not to count for every win.
The will to do leads me ahead,
I don’t want kudos for every step when I fly high
I wear my own crown.
No creature can ever weigh me high or low.
I am the only one who can state my worth.
I have myself, I have me.
I am the one to exalt or censure me,
for, I wear my own crown.
