Adwita Tiwari, Darshit Kasliwal, Sanvi Agrawal and Zahra Jaliwala, all from Class X had an incredible stay in Hungary under the AFS Short Term Cultural Programme.
Here’s what they have to say :
Visiting another country and becoming a part of it was an unforgettable experience. Discovering a culture so different from ours was surprising and enriching. We exchanged values, shared our homeland, and explored breathtaking landscapes. Our journey began in Budapest, where we explored iconic landmarks like The Parliament, St. Stephen Basilica, and Buda Castle, as well as nearby cities and Balaton Lake. AFS volunteers, who became cherished friends, guided us throughout.
On May 15th, meeting our host families marked a day we’ll always cherish. In just under 20 days, strangers became family, welcoming us wholeheartedly into their daily lives and sharing insights into their culture that no tourist could offer.
Attending school, we were amazed by the personalized learning each student received. One part of the trip I had never imagined was making lifelong friends from India– people I would never have known existed if not for this trip.
This experience profoundly expanded our worldview, leaving us with a desire to reunite with our second family one day.
