It was a day of energy,  excitement and patriotism as Shishukunj celebrated the 74th Republic Day on January 26, 2023.

The day started with a Marathon for students and educators of Classes VI – XII. The students ran  ,  and ran for a cause : Save Water : Save Life.

Trophies were awarded to the first 03 students who completed the Marathon and medals to those who were among the first 100 to complete the same.

After successfully completing the Marathon, the students moved to the Velodrome for the Republic Day Programme.

Mrs. Mamta Saurashtra or Mamata  didi , as she is fondly called , was the chief guest who unfurled the National Flag. The NCC cadets took the salute and this was followed by the National Anthem and the Pledge which was administered by the Students Council.

The programme also included a Speech in English, a Hindi Poem and a Patriotic Song. The message was loud and clear : we need not go to the war front to show our love and  dedication for the country.  We can do so by being the best version of ourselves in whichever situation we are at present . Being conscientious, kind , caring, respectful and inclusive in our approach is the best way to do so .

The Students Council announced the following results :

House with the Best Performance during the academic session 2022-23 : Dhyanchand House

House with the Highest Attendance on Republic Day : Kalam House 

Hot jalebis and  piping hot idli sambhar served to the students after the programme was a good finale to the celebrations. 

Republic Day  was indeed a day to remember and to acknowledge what a great nation India is!
